This piece of work was made after a visit to the Dachau Concentration camp in Germany. I was disturbed by my lack of feeling for the place; it had undoubtedly been the scene of terrible horror, but was now, just a place. It wasn't until I encountered photographs of this man, and other victims of the camp, as well as drawings made by some of the prisoners, that I became emotionally connected.
The title of the piece is "Nummermenschen", or Number Men, in English.
